Default Charging outside

If I charge my cart outside, is it okay to put the charger on the floorboard to charge? I want to keep it off the ground and out of the elements of weather but afraid the charger might get warm and damage the floorboard. If my voltage reducer is placed in the open area by the batteries, is it okay to put the charger on top of it or will it get too warm?
