RXV Problem
I'm trying to diagnose a problem with my RXV with the great help of this forum.
It will only crawl along in FWD or REV. I've checked the parking brake per HiTechRedNeck that I've seen in other threads. With the key off, it can not be pushed. With the key on and the tow switch in Run, it can not be pushed. With the key on and the tow switch in Tow, it can be moved freely. I've checked the Throttle and Brake switches and sensors per the troubleshooting guide and those both check out. I've also checked the Charge Port and the Motor Temp sensor and both of those check out. This leaves me thinking about the bearing encoder. This was my original hunch and was the first thing I checked and it looked ok initially. But, since I haven't found anything else wrong I'm coming back to it. I got the Oscilloscope kit that cgtech mentioned in another post - I had been thinking about building another one that I found online, but this one is awesome and couldn't be beat for the price! Here's what I see with the scope on the white wire from the encoder. Notice they aren't the sharp square waves that are is shown in here http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ml#post1227297, but it's not the mess that is shown there either. What do you guys think? I'm trying to get this thing diagnosed so I can get the parts sooner than later and unfortunately, it will be a couple weeks before I'm able to take it to a dealer to have it scanned. Thanks! ebone |

Re: RXV Problem
Yes, I've gone through the entire troubleshooting guide. Aside from the resistor measuring 0.6 ohms (the range is 0.2-0.5) everything seems to point to the encoder. I can't check the resistor temp sensor with out cutting the harness, mine doesn't have a plug for some reason.
I get 5v on step 7 on page 24. For step 8, on the white wire I get about 2.7v when moving and about 5v (or .1v) when stopped. Blue is 2.5v when moving or stopped. |

Re: RXV Problem
ok, put cart on jackstands so it cant go nowhere. have a friend or a stick hold the gas pedal about halfway down. then go wiggle the plugs & wires at the motor to see if you can get any jumpy-ness

Re: RXV Problem
There is no change by wiggling the wires. It was still just at crawling speed.
I did notice a metallic grinding noise coming from the motor area. |

Re: RXV Problem
if you have covered everything in the t-shoot guide, and cant find any faults in the harness, it might be time to get a handheld programmer on it to see what the controller thinks.
