How old are my Crown CR-235 batteries?
I did a quick search, but didn't find an answer (my apologies if I missed anything).
I just purchased a used '96 EZGO TXT DCS. Seller claimed the batteries were just over 1 year old. They look nice and clean, but I wanted to find out exactly how old they are. I assume there's some sort of manufactured date stamp that can help me identify their age, correct? Thanks in advance. atvBob |

Re: How old are my Crown CR-235 batteries?
There should be a sticker or imprint with a letter and number somewhere on the battery.
Letter corresponds with month (i.e. A=Jan., B=Feb., Etc.) and number should be year (i.e. 2=2012, 3=2013, 4=2014, Etc.) So E6 = May, 2016. Hope this helps. |

Didn't see any stickers (on the tops). Guess I will look again. Thx.

On Crowns, look for an engraving on the case top near the negative post. That's how it is on my Cr 190's. Not obvious. Have to look closely.

Re: How old are my Crown CR-235 batteries?
Crown uses a 2 digit alphanumeric code common to a lot of manufacturers. The first digit is a letter and the second a number. The letter is the month and the number is the year.
A2 is Jan 2012, G9 is July 2009, B6 is Feb 2016, and so on. Note that A2 could theoretically be Jan 2002 or 2012. 10 year old batteries are unlikely but possible. So somewhere in that string is the 2 digit code as described. I can't remember exactly where it is and I don't have access to the cart currently as it is at my daughter's house. If you have trouble I will be glad to get the exact position next time I get to the cart. I see it frequently. |

So I got to the cart. The seventh and eighth characters are the date code. K3 on mine. Nov 2013
