Default Curtis 1268-5403 Mode switch

My Cart has the 1268-5403.
I can not tell (without a programmer) if I actually have a Mode 1 and Mode 2 programmed. There is no "Mode Switch (J20)" anywhere on the cart that I have seen.

Would someone that knows these controllers please explain what the Commonly Programmed differences are/would be?
Also Is the mode switch supposed to be momentary or just on/off?
Just for giggles would like to hook up a switch and test it. If my cart has a High-Lo built in from the OEM That may come in handy.
The limited amount I have driven the cart has me believing it is programmed closely to a standard on the course golf cart.

I have no issues or problems with the way she sits right now and don't want to open myself up for issues by messing with it.
My hunger for information has had me researching all of the internals. I always like to arm myself with knowledge so when a problem does occur I am somewhat ready to make the next move. When I noticed the Mode Switch I immediately started hunting for this info. What I was able to find is you can switch between modes.

As always Thank you for any insight.

Here is the manual http://www.fsip.biz/Documents/1268%2006A%20MANUAL.pdf

Pack positive applied to pin 20 changes the controller to use M2 parameters. You will need a handheld to change all these settings.

Built a cart a few years ago and was able to set M1 and settings for speed and M2 for torque and a slower speed.

I am gonna install a switch and once the weather breaks I will rent the Programmer for a month and do some fiddling to fine tune a High/Low.
Low side for general use in the camp ground limiting it to like 10mph for when my kids or friends want to take it for a drive.
The high side for everything else.
Not sure if this is a good idea or not, but will be fun to play with the programming.

If you have a laptop or a pc you can get near the cart you can build your own cable to program the controller. You only need the 4 pin molex plug from a old power supply or just buy an extension and cut the plug off. Start here

https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/show...15316&page=116

And check out page 120 also

Attached are some pics of the plug

kgsc
I appreciate the feedback.
I read thru a bunch of that post in the last few days, I believe I have most of what is needed to make it all up. I have been in Information Technology as my career for most of my life. 10 years ago I would be all about this type of work...
These days, I would rather just rent the programmer for a month for the $40. Refine what I am looking to get out of it and call it a day.
I have gotten a bit lazy as I age...

Fair enough. Where I pointed you to had files you can download then load into the software to program the usb cable. The cable end you can just crimp on if you wish. Parts you need would be about $25 plus shipping.. Just sayin

You are right, and there is plenty of Covid left before I get to bring it to the camp site...
Maybe I will give it a go...
I will make a "Cable build" post if I do go this route...
Let me get to reading a bit more.

Thank You..
