TXT help
I’ve got a TXT that I modified several years ago with all the usual stuff, controller, solenoid, cables, etc, and I left it at my farm for my parents to use. It has gotten filthy in the battery compartment, the terminals are badly corroded and it’s time for new batteries. The cart also stops working for a while if the motor gets wet. What is the best way to do a real deep cleaning on this cart and restore it to its former glory?

Re: TXT help
I would first disconnect the batteries and try not to get the motor, controller, solenoid too wet. Water in the motor will quickly rust the brush holders and cause problems. Controllers are usually somewhat sealed but I would not get them wet. Then you can go at it on the frame and the rest of the cart. Let it dry for a long time before connecting up the battery.

Re: TXT help
Would there be any reason to take the body off? I'll probably end up replacing the motor, I think it was driven through a creek often, and the motor is likely a rusty mess.

Re: TXT help
The more you disassemble it the more you can clean but you need to decide how much you need to do. The non electronic stuff can get wet. You can disassemble and inspect the motor - and put in new brushes while you're at it if it looks ok inside. Battery acid usually leaks out and gets places - and it's nice to clean that up.

Re: TXT help
The other place that may need attention is the pedal box. It is located under the floor and the box and the components are not water resistant at all. So that may have been why the cart quit working for them. Access is through an access plate behind the go pedal, under the mat.

Re: TXT help
Thanks for the info! I’ll have my hands on it this weekend to see how bad it is.
