Default Batteries Installed Backward

Friend of mine installed new batteries in his EZ GO (36 volt), put them in backwards, resulting in a reverse polarity hookup. For some unknown reason he then plugged in the charger and subsequently unplugged it when sparks flew. Batteries and hookups are now installed correctly, but cart is a "no go". Any ideas, did he fry the controller or is it fused to prevent such from happening.

We need to identify your cart first, does it have a handle for the fnr by your leg or a switch on the dash for your fnr?

It has a rocker switch on dash. Getting good voltage out of all batteries plus good total voltage number. I put switch in "tow" postion when I redid his battery setup, and then back to "run" after the re-install.

It's likely he fried the controller but, you should first check the reed switch at the charger receptacle and the micro switch in the peddle box. They may be fried preventing the solenoid from closing.
Good you used the run/tow switch, I'll bet he didn't?
