Default 1990 Ezgo Issue

I have a 90 Ezgo 36 volt cart which seems to be running out of power in the 2-3 mile range following a full charge. It has all 6 volt batteries.

1) I tested batteries with a full charge and all batteries were showing 6+ volts. Test was done under load with it jacked up.

2) I ran the batteries down ( it went 3 miles this time), then jacked it up and retested batteries under load. Here's what I measured below on each battery:

3.5 3.8 3.5 1.5
6.0 1.3

Could it really be that 5 of 6 batteries are bad??? Or could ould there potentially be some other issue?

All connections have been checked and water is properly filled in each battery.

Thanks!

Welcome to BGW!

Yes, unfortuntely it looks as if you have some bad apples in the bunch. 1 battery could be causing the others damage too but with those numbers it's unlikely. 5 years is about all I can get out of a set and thats if I take really good care of them. How old are the batteries?

These batteries are not the best in the world and they are only 6 months old. I inherited them when I bought the cart, but I got the receipt. They have a 1 year warranty on them, so I can go get new ones. I might need to just go ahead and buy some decent ones though!

I was just concerned that something else might be damaging to the batteries in the system. I'm new to this, didn't know for sure.

Can you tell me a brand name or two for good batteries?

Yep, Trojans are the best. If you got those batteries from walmart it would explain it.

The guy that had it before me bought the batteries...from Advance Auto. Same thing as Walmart I think!

What would be the best Trojan battery for my cart?
