Default 1975 Cushman questions

Can you guys tell me what model this cart would be the model number is 898110-7510. I am thinking about restoring it but I cannot find any pictures of one that looks like it. What is supposed to be in the dash and what is missing from the front.? I have seen a few pictures of the motors connected to the axle with V-belts not a direct drive like mine and they were supposedly 1975 also any clue? Different model maybe?

. . . if the body is sheet metal and fiberglass, it is a Gran Cushman 400 . . . if the body is only sheet metal, it is either a Cushman Trophy 400 or a Cushman Town & Fairway . . .

Gun Guy,

From the serial number you provided, it is a 1975 Cushman Golfster, 36V, GC-400. You can look up this serial number on page 16 of the ID Guide that I have attached. You can also find information on the Parts Manual (824404) and Operators Manual (824220) in this guide.

I did a quick search of "Cushman Golfster 1975" on Google and there are a number of photos you can see ... I have attached a few photos of a 1973 Cushman Golfster for your reference.

Some interesting information on the Cushman carts can be found at: http://www.golfcarcatalog.com/golf-c...useum-cushman/

A quick snip of this information is as follows:

"The Cushman name is best known for the little three wheel gas ‘Meter Maid’ vehicles that plagued tardy shoppers as the ‘Maids’ wrote parking tickets.
Cushman has a long history of manufacturing utility vehicles and golf cars. They made their own twin cylinder, 4 cycle engine that powered their “Truckster” (the ‘Meter Maid’ & a 3 wheel golf car known as the ‘735’) vehicles.

Their most common golf cars, however, were powered by an 8hp or 10hp Kohler single cylinder 4 cycle engine. They also offered a 36 volt electric golf car powered by a GE motor coupled to a Cushman differential.

The last golf car came off the line in 1975. After that Cushman focused on utility vehicles for turf care and burden carriers for industry. Eventually the entire company was purchased by Ransomes of England, although the main manufacturing facility remained in Lincoln, Nebraska. In late 1998 the company was purchased by Textron Corp, the parent of E-Z-GO golf cars and Jacobson Turf Equipment."

It sounds like you have one of the last Cushman golf carts made ... keep us informed on your restoration!

Regards, 3CW

EDIT - I was so excited about seeing an old Cushman that I initially missed the date on the original thread ... 2013

Good info but no luck in finding a service manual or Parts manual.

PattiBoals - Please post a few photos of your cart. Not a lot of Cushmans on this site but there is some interest in the older carts.
