I know that you are working towards a new motor but for future searchers this can be easy one so long as you have a welder or someone else who does:

Another option: if there is enough thread on the broken stud left (on mine there wasn't) you can get a bolt coupler like the one in the pic. Screw it onto the broken stud, screw a new stud onto it. Done.

Lochlin look at the photo. That won't work with the OP's problem. Could it have been fixed another way? Maybe by someone like me or others with the skills and resources but you would still have something just "rigged up." If somebody has to be taught how to do this, then find a welder etc. it is not cost effective or practical. The man is happy with his decision, let it go.

Well, I did clearly state "for future searchers" which clearly implies the OP was not the intended recipient.

Who knows, someone a year or two down the road may have the same issue and may be looking for options. Information is good on forums like this. The more the better.

Not sure what the purpose of your correcting me was. All the same, to each his own.

I saw the "future" part. If you read above, two gentlemen have completed a business transaction you were not party to. No need to (even remotely) suggest the OP could have done something differently. That's all.

Start another thread if you want to discuss how you would have handled a similar situation.
