What in the world????

You gotta start from scratch there I think.
What is the black box on the passenger side?
Looks like a controller....and that anderson plug...wow!
Wonder if they had some type of industrial battery in there?

I see a transformer. It appears the charger has been put in beside the controller. Some kind of odd ball battery retrofit?

WARNING you don't want to make a big spark anywhere near the battery.

note : use 2 wrenches on motor studs to keep them from spinning
