Re: Brake squeal. Fixed for now.
OP, you said your fix worked "for now" with the comet trick...that spurred some memories from some of us and now the forum nazi has been rattled.
I took your post as advice to others that may have the same issue. Yes, your drums have a glaze on them. Your method worked and will keep them quiet for a time. Best bet in an automobile would be to have the drums turned, but as far as I know, that's not possible with the small drums on a cart. If it comes back soon, a good solution would be to either get new drums or get some 80 grit emery cloth and scuff the drums yourself. Essentially that's what you did with the comet, but the emery cloth might last a bit longer. Sorry to get sidetracked, but these old memories are awesome. |

With all due respects to the OP, I do not see anything wrong as if you look back at the posts, they were educational in how and why this method (comet) was used and the various reasons it came about. Now the OP can help educate someone else with this info if he is asked "Well where did that come from???" |

Re: Brake squeal. Fixed for now.
The Comet in the carb trick came to me at last. When you were bucks down and only did a cheap top end on a motorcycle. A guy would use that three arm hone from JC Whitney trying to clean up the walls. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not so much and out came the Comet.

Re: Brake squeal. Fixed for now.
Update on the comet trick. It works. Forget when I posted this but I only have squealing after washing it and spraying water on the wheels to clean it after they sit and dry. Back up once or twice and the squealing is gone. Still going to squirt a little more on but they have been great.
