Re: The Time Has Come - New Controller - Build It With Me
Well I think I'm gonna either have to wait for some more $ or give this a go on the stock AMC motor till it gives up the ghost. Don't have enough right now for the cost of a new motor and controller.
Has anyone simply upgraded the controller, solenoid, and wires on a lifted 4person cart - just wondering how long that motor will go for before giving up. |

How hard is a motor change without a lift/shop...ie doing it in my garage on the ground?

That kind of depends on you age. If you are still young enough to lift 50 lbs laying on your back with arms extended far enough to keep the motor away from your head. It will be a cake walk. If not you will either need help lifting it or use a strap like a ratchet strap to secure it so that it don't fall on you. That's what I did last time. I have a small floor jack I lifted the motor a little at a time then took up slack on strap until I got it high enough to slide on to the differential. Go for it. I'm 71

Re: The Time Has Come - New Controller - Build It With Me
One thing about the Plum Quick motor, there is a handle built into the housing making it much easier to deal with...

With the plumb quick motor, on a DS cart. Remove the basket and you can reach down through the access cover and pick the motor up and slide it on the shaft. Wow what a pice of cake.

Re: The Time Has Come - New Controller - Build It With Me
The Plum quick Bandit that others have suggested is $225.00, not a bad investment.
It will definitely give you a boost in speed and will work with all your other stock components. But I am pretty sure it won't help you with torque. Aflyer |

yeah I'm right down the road from PQ - to bad I hear they won't work well for what I'm trying to achieve.
