Default Costco 8v batteries, Good or bad??

I recently purchased 6 8v batteries from Costco. I talked to a local golf cart service specialist and told him some problems I've been having with my cart. These problems started happening before purchasing my new costco batteries. He told me the first thing I need to do is sell back my Costco batteries, they are no good... This guy wanted to sell me "better" batteries for $925. I'm not so concerned about price but is it legit that costco batteries are no good?

Johnson Control makes those batteries. There are better brands. They arent "bad" batteries but you probably wont see the life as you would from say Trojan. Trojan seems to be on the high end.

I figure they are GC batteries from Costco. What else would take 8V batteries?

Solar panel batteries..... (A whole different type) and E-back up batteries like we have in our plant. (also 8 volt as we have 24v e-systems)

They are most likely the Interstate 9-GC8-UTL which are sold for golf cart service. Like others have said before, there is nothing wrong with them but they are not likely going to last as long as a more expensive Trojan, Crown or US. However, you paid a lot less for these and have that extra money in your pocket today to use elsewhere.

krwilson,
As others have said, there are better batteries, and they do cost more money.

What are the specs on the Costco batteries, for example I recently bought a set of Crown CR150 batteries they are rated at 150 amp hrs.

I have not used the Costco 8v batteries. However, I did buy the Sams 8v GC Batteries several years ago when I had my previous CC Series cart.
They lasted about 4 years compared to the 5 1/2 years I was getting out of the Trojans I had been using.
When you compared the price to the time, they came out about even. They cost less but lasted fewer years.
Not sure the Costco batteries are comparable to the Sams batteries, but the price is about the same.
In my opinion, you get what you pay for. YMMV
