Put the meter on the 20,000 (20k) setting
? that looks low.
Pull and twist on both connector ends.... see if one is loose

On the 2000 K it goes down to nothing. But the solenoid only clicks with it on.

Oops, try 20k

If it looks like the resistor is bad, have you got an old one you can try? The controller will not work without one.

Doesn’t seem like much resistance

Question Re: Need help after converting ‘88 Club Car DS

Not sure it that's all I need. What would keep it from burning up another one?

It looks bad, rare, but possible. Probably just defective. I have seen these things so hot they burnt my fingers and still be good.
Do you have a local cart store where you can pick up a resistor for a 36v cart?

There is a place down the street. I will call them.

But I have another interesting symptom. I connected it back as normal, pushed the pedal, and only got the click, as I expected. I used the rubber end of my pliers and gave the solenoid a firm tap and it started. Now every time it “won’t go “, if I tap the solenoid, it goes. Does that sound like possibly a bad solenoid?
