Stumped?
I have a 2010 club car 48v that won't go more than 12mph off a full charge. I tested the batteries and they are showing 8.3 each. Replaced the speed sensor and it still doesn't go faster. It also will cut out really hard if I put 4 people on it. I'm new to the cart world so I am lost.

Re: Stumped?
I think that is normal for a stock cart.

Re: Stumped?
Your speed setting is likely on a 2 or 3. Not to mention the batteries may be weak as well. Or you could have a dead cell in your pack.

Re: Stumped?
$100 for factory speed code 4. I was getting low 20's with a lift and 22" tires with mine.

Re: Stumped?
$100 to get you 19.5mph max no matter what else you do or spend $400 and get an Alltrax controller. The latter is future proof.

Re: Stumped?
Your batteries are roughly only 75% charged. They should read just under 8.5 or 50.9 for the pack. Cutting out under load is a sign of weak batteries and or bad connections. As the load increases, the voltage drops. Weak batteries will cause a bigger voltage drop below what the controller can handle.
How are you charging them now? Have you reset the OBC lately? Are you drawing power from single or multiple batteries for accessories instead of the whole pack? How old are they? What brand? Is the electrolyte level correct? Have you checked and cleaned the terminals and cables all the way back to the motor? Battery water levels and cables should be checked monthly. |

Re: Stumped?
Welcome to BGW.
We need a little more to go on. I'm not sure what you mean by cutting out. Do you mean it will stop and go? I could never be a service writer, but I'll give a shot. Replaced the speed sensor, with what, a stock sensor or speed magnet? Did you replace magnet with sensor? How old are batteries? Your voltage is on the low side. Is this your voltage after 24 hours rest or after charging? What is voltage under load? Are all your wires and connections clean and tight? No breaks in wires? We like pictures. Could we get some of your battery compartment, solenoid, controller and motor? |
