Widening the front wheel base
Just wondering why the front wheel base on a CC/DS is 4" narrower than the back and what are the pros and cons to equal front and rear width assuming same size wheels.

Re: Widening the front wheel base
I'm no expert, but I would guess for handling reasons? A narrower wheelbase on the front handles and tracks better? That's my guess...

I would think a wider stance would give better weight distribution thus better handling. Just not sure about the wear and tear on the kingpins and bearings due to the spacers and the whole geometry thing, looking for a logical explanation as to why they're manufactured this way, I guess ?? You're probably right, I just kinda took a stab at it. Hopefully someone who has some insight on this will chime in...

Re: Widening the front wheel base
I'm pretty sure the front track is narrower to help cut wear and tear out on the wet fairways. If they were equal the course would sustain more damage in high traffic areas.

Re: Widening the front wheel base
That is what I read when the Jakes spindle lifts came out. There was some write-ups that golf courses would not like it as it promoted rutting in soft or wet areas.

Re: Widening the front wheel base
I widened mine by 3" (2X1.5) spacers to bring it within an inch of the back mainly for aesthetics and it greatly increased my cornering stability and overall ride. Highly unlikely mine will ever see a golf course anyway. Street legal.
