Sr48500 1998 cc ds
hey all, last night I ordered the Altrax 48500 controller package from cartsunlimited.com. I got the package with the controller, 400aSolenoid, HD F&R and ordered the 2 awg cable set.
With all of this, my cart is a 48V CC DS year 98 with the vglide. I am wondering is there anything else additional I need to complete this install? I have a Jakes 6'' A- ARM kit with 22 inch tires that I put on over the weekend, I am looking for that torque increase compared to the stock set up I have. The motor is a hi speed 36V for now, will update that down the road. I am just trying to have everything on hand and not n"need" anything additional when I get to the project over the holiday weekend. Thanks |

Re: Sr48500 1998 cc ds
First of all, I'd replace that vglide. It's not going to like 500 amps running through it, neither is the stock motor very long for that matter. But some have had good success pushing 500 amps through stock motors for years without a problem. Guess it depends on your driving habits but I'd probably turn it down to 400 amps for longevity unless you want a reason to upgrade your motor soon rather than later
Get one of Scotty's pedal conversion kits to get a smoother take off and improve overall drivability. You'll love the solid state conversion! |

Doesn't that package come with an electronic go pedal?

But I'd still suggest dropping the vglide regardless if it can handle the amperage. The difference between the vglide and the go-pedal upgrade that Scotty has, if it's similar or better than the potentiometer he used to sell with his kits, is night and day. I've used both. Why skimp on something so simple when his already dropped the dime on this great setup? |

I got everything from ScottyB for the recommended kit. So from what I'm gathering I do NOT have everything needed to make the upgrades to the controller?

Re: Sr48500 1998 cc ds
You vglide will handle it just fine, they say it is just not as smooth as the other set up. In a series cart torque is amps so higher amps higher torque.

Thanks buddy. Scotty confirmed I'll have it Friday. Super pumped to work on it.

Re: Sr48500 1998 cc ds
The Vglide for controller carts does not see any kind of motor current like a resistor cart.
The SR controller will do it's best at smoothing the multi-step potentiometer signal out after a few rides. No worries. You will need all the tools and skills listed for a level 2 install here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/install-ratings-1-4.html |
