Precedent vs. DS rear springs
Quite some time ago we were given a pair of new CC leaf springs. Having no use for them at that time, I stuck them in a shed and forgot about them. Now, in looking at the springs off our DS project, they appear the same. The new ones still have their CC part tags showing 102509301 which brings up 2004 and up CC Precedent. Every measurement is the same from the offset perch bolt, length, width, thickness and bushing hole. The CC site shows a different # for the DS spring. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable. The DS springs are shot, so trying to compare compression won't help. Anyone have experience with this?

Re: Precedent vs. DS rear springs
Howdy Dave, I suppose the springs on the Mutant were already Precedent, but they also have the centering pin 'off center,' also both are single leaf. They appear identical.

Re: Precedent vs. DS rear springs
anything is possible
the problem i ran into trying to put prec springs on a DS was the rear shackle would not flex as it was up against the rear frame when the short side was forward and the brake cables were too tight when the long side was forward |

Re: Precedent vs. DS rear springs
Lots of room to flex on this cart, I suppose nothing will be lost in trying them. I wish I could remember where they came from, or why they wound up in my shed. They are new, never mounted, and I certainly didn't buy them. Ahh, yet another little memory mystery.

Re: Precedent vs. DS rear springs
in your photo, it almost looks like the spring is above the axle.

I'm all for saving money and making things work, but this is an instance when it just makes sense to buy new. As CTD pointed out, you are going to have trouble with either the shackles or the brakes. You can buy the whole kit from a site sponsor for around $100. Just my 2 cents worth.
