Default Finally Finished!

Well, thanks to Scotty B for all the goodies, David Hicks, Sergio, Will Hopper @ Alltrax, and several other BGW encouragers, I finally finished all of the upgrades that my '99 DS needed to do what we wanted it to do.

This cart is now my avatar. My wife and I are real proud of it. It ain't much, but it's ours!

With the original purchase price of $1850.00 right off the golf course, the upgrades and additions brought the total to $4329.00. I may have gotten by cheaper buying one already done, but I would have missed a huge learning experience. I'm so glad I did it.

Mrs. Tom47 insisted on keeping it original in appearance as much as possible, with the exception of necessary Georgia street legal tires, lighting and accessories so we could drive on any 35 MPH roads. It still has the sweater basket and golf bag holders. Who knows, we may take up the sport someday!

I call it our sleeper cart. It looks innocent, but the XCT and Admiral combination is giving us a solid 25 MPH with an occasional 26 or 27. I could tweak the XCT to get a bit more but 25 is more than I need. And this is with 2013 Crown batteries. They showed 49.5 volts after today's long ride. It also has stock 18" tires.

(Mrs. Tom47 drove it flat out yesterday and if you are not the one behind the wheel, 25 is outright scarey!)

The MCOR4 has a very smooth throttle response. It will spin the tires on gravel or grass if you're not VERY careful. But on pavement where we normally drive, it could not be better.

By the way, several months ago I disconnected the motor speed sensor and removed the regen solenoid. This XCT controller brings the regen braking back to life. I don't know what I did without it. I drove 7.4 miles today and only used the foot brake for a hard stop. Rolling stops are done solely by the regen almost to a complete stop.

I'm far from an expert and won't pretend to be. But I may be able to assist with some things here in the future. I'm looking forward to sharing my learned knowledge. If it weren't for BGW, this cart would be exactly how it was when I bought it last winter. 12 MPH, jumpy throttle, OK on grass and not so much on pavement. I like it a whole lot more now!

Many thanks to you all!

Good idea! Those "baldini" tires are pretty much useless off the tarmac, and you DON'T want to have to ask the missus to push.
