It uses an algorithm based upon energy units used (discharged) by the carts operation. By design, it is supposed to put back what was used to properly charge the batteries to maximum voltage in the most efficient manner (for 90's technology - although the programming was updated periodically for newer chargers and better algorithms).

It also is used in communication with a CC hand-held device, maintenance charge intervals, triggers the charger, disables the cart, etc. etc.

Charged after a short run
Added almost 1/2 gallon of distilled water.
Not sure how that effects the full charge , water
will take a while I miix in.
Hosed off the batts, dried , snugged connections, sprayed with
battery terminal protector
Should be good to go :)

Be sure you are only filling to 1/4" or so above the plates....

Like said, meter probably off calibration....
I see you have a FLUKE meter if your's is like mine it is dead on the money, or least in 100 % agreement with a digital voltage meter.

If after 12 to 24 hours your still showing 51.8 volts it simply sounds to me like you have a great set of batteries...

Now that I think about it
It could have been 51.0, I didn’t have my glasses on

I filled them to just below the neck
After charge, some were to the neck

That is way high..... You may want to pull some back out as when you get to more usage and longer rides, it will dictate longer charge cycles and the normal mixing and bubbling is going to probably cause excess precipitation and run-over off your battery tops....

So long as it hasn't bubbled out, you should be fine but I agree with Nole that it might be best to back some out. I overfilled mine the first time I used my single point watering system (mine might have been up to the neck on at least one battery). During the next couple of charging cycles it bubbled over and dripped onto my concrete floor where the acid ate little pits in the floor. That was in a rental place while we were waiting for our new house to be built, now we are in our house I'll make sure it doesn't happen again!

If you do back some out, don't take too much because you are actually removing some of the acid that should be there. If you are as pedantic as I am you would keep what you backed out in individual jars marked with the battery number. Later on when you needed to add water to any battery top up with the liquid in the jar to put that acid back. Oh dear, I can imagine the comments already!

Not quite to the extent as Bruce, but my neighbor borrowed mine one weekend and then detailed it when he brought it back. After running it around a few hours I charged it and upon looking under the seat, had puddles on the batteries from the long charge. I took the caps off and !

I used a baby nose sucker and pulled out just over a gallon off water/acid mixture. Since it was all mixed at the time, I just placed it all in one sterile gallon jug and used it for the next few months for topping off....

Thanks guys.

Haven't had any bubble out yet
But am watching close

Checked volts again, 2-1/2 days since drove & charged,
51.0 volts (glasses on )
Hope meter is close, several years since sent in for calibration.
Back in my (4 letter word time) "work" days.

Have used a "nose sucker" before too. Have a few spots of
stained concrete.

Another thing I watch for is "foaming " when I spray
baking soda water on the batts ( then hose off)
Seem to always have a few acid spots,
