Hi, need a dc converter for a 2001 48v club car. It has an idp on it now that's bad. Was wondering what u pros think I should put on. It has a winch, headlights, and turn signals. Thanks

Contact Dave at Revolution Golf Cars, 706-836-7210, for his (see http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/voltage-reducers)

or

Scotty at Carts Unlimited, scottyb@cartsunlimited.net, for his (see http://www.cartsunlimited.net/12v-reducers.html)

both are site sponsors and give great advice as well as great parts. They'll see you straight.

Better check the specs, [amp draw] on your winch before ordering. Those babies can pull some major juice!

I would put the winch on a separate relay controlled circuit and keep all else on the reducer.

Sounds simple. Wasn't aware of 48v winches.

There is no such reducer that I've ever seen that is capable of providing enough power to properly power a winch. A 30 amp reducer is the biggest we carry. I've seen hundreds of 12 volt winches running on two batteries without a reducer at 16 volts and I've never seen an issue because of it. It's just a simple electric motor. The same concept as what plenty of us here on this forum do when we run 36 volt motors on our 48 volt carts.

Agreed no reducer will handle the draw from a winch, connect to 12-18v and move the connections around the pack if you use the wench a lot I mean winch. So you are not always drawing on the same pair
