2 kinds of light upgrade kits - Which is better?
I've seen 2 kinds of light upgrade kits - one with a brake pad and one with a spring under the floor - which is better?

I like the pads because you don’t need the timer relay for the parking brake. But other people don’t like the pad because it can be temperamental if you don’t put your foot on the correct spot on the brake pedal. So it’s really up to your personal preference. Both work fine, pad setup is slightly easier to install.

On the other side of the coin, I like the microswitch under the floor.
The bracket sent with the switch did not work for some reason and I had to fabricate my own. It works well and is very easy to adjust as it inevitably will need to be. A possible downside would be if you drive through a lot of wet or muddy terrain. The microswitch is not waterproof in any way. But the switch itself is easy and inexpensive to replace if needed. |

I agree. I don't think it is good to have wires coming down the pedal. I never cared for the DS brake pedal switch setup. I thought the Precedent brake switch wiring was a great improvement. Not only do I not like exposed wires, but not as much as wiring near moving parts and pinch points.
The switch/timer setup is reliable and relatively water resistant, unless you are riding around in a couple foot of water, you won't have any problem with it. |
