Default 81 G1 J10 electrical from a newbie

Thanks all for having me here. Yamaha G1 1981...I've owned this for about 5 yrs, but it was on loan to my mother, for her farm..Nephews been using it,and all of a sudden it quit running...I have since, taken ownership back..lol. brother in law working on it for me.....he is a snowmobile repair quy...any how.....He tells me that I have a good battery, good compression, he figured starter/gen...I've replaced that, along with the voltage regulator...new on both..but still don't seem to be getting motor to fire..He admitted that the golf cart is new to him, although he is very familiar with the motor..His next "guess" is the solenoids...my question.....would both solenoids go out, simutaniously...or can I suggest a less expensive route, since I already have put + $200 into starter and volt reg....thanks for any help....

Dumb question but does the 81 model have to the two in line fues holders on the passenger side fender? Also, get a wiring diagram and trace/check everything especially the grounds.
