Default The engine is still ok

So I found out that after unknowingly running my engine on my gas ezgo with no oil that it is not seized praise jebus. But...... It has a rod knock. How bad is this? How much is that to fix? People keep saying I'm lucky please tell me how "lucky" I am. Thanks for all replies.

How bad to run? Tough to say....it will run till it won't. rod knock means a rebuild bro. At a minimum you will need main bearings. The crank would need to checked as well as the piston to rod fit.

How'd u run it with no oil?

I hate to say it, but if it's a 2-stroke there really isn't anything to do except rebuild it ground-up, so the only thing the lack of seizing saved you is the headaches when disassembling the motor - you might be able to save the crankshaft, but it's almost worth popping $350 on a full kit and then you have a brand new motor top and bottom (that's how I would do it, your mileage may vary)

Yep, the engine tends not to seize when the rings are burned off on the inside of the cylinder. If anything, it turns easier on a 2-stroke.

However, if you have a 4-stroke that ran without oil, as with a car, yes, not seized is better than seized, as a seized motor may do some serious damage to the bottom end when it seizes. However, you may still need new rings, piston, and a boring out to get it back running.

What do you mean by "rod knock"?
