13hp Kawasaki Motor
I'm trying to find ways to add some top end to my 08 RXV. I've opened the governor as much as possible without causing too much back firing. Searching for mods on-line has not given me much info or options. I see the 8:1 and 6:1 gears but want to know if adding those would kill the bottom end to the point that I couldn't get up hills very well. Getting about 22-24mph now. 30mph would be nice..... for now!

Re: 13hp Kawasaki Motor
I have a 13hp kawasaki on a ST400. Has 22' tires and runs 26mph. I added a tach and set it at 4400. Kawasaki says that is the max rpm from a thread I saw on this forum. A search would probably find it. You could get different gears and then put stiffer driven clutch spring and possibly lighter weights in the drive clutch. That would increase the shift rpms allowing more torque for hills and would also speed up downshifts.

I was thinking the same thing after doing a little research. Nothing cheap about it though! Probably a thousand bucks with labor included, all to get 5-7 more mph. That's a tough pill to swallow!

I'm running 24" mud lites and see 31-33 mph usually. If you are still running a stock size tire I think you are about maxed out. If you really wanted to go with the higher gear ratio a clutch tune up and secondary adjustment would negate the higher gears to the point you would only notice the higher speed. If you ever plan on upgrading tire size the higher gears are not a good idea. |

Re: 13hp Kawasaki Motor
Is there any way to adjust so it wont? Its been so long since it was stock I can't remember if it did it before it was adjusted.

Re: 13hp Kawasaki Motor
I have 12" rims with low profile tires so its pretty much the same as the stock size wheel and tire.
