Re: Convert dual cable shifter to single cable shifter?
Just in case anyone is looking for this kind of mod..... I have done this twice now. I found a Morse boat shifter on Ebay for like $13. Then found a local shop called Six Roblees who custom made push/pull control cables rated for like 35 lbs (typically used for car shifters, throttles, etc.). The problem was we used the wrong connections on each end (on their suggestion) & the cable broke after a few months.
I just got thru setting it up again using this cable from Jegs. And these screw on connections on each end. In the end Jegs was less expensive than Six Roblees. And 1/3rd of the cost of EZGo.... plus I was able to route the cable around the gas tank rather than underneath the engine where it was getting hung up on sticks, rocks, etc. We'll see how it goes. |
