Front Wheel Hubs
Dis assembled the front of my 84 G1 today and with the help of some Blaster and an impact wrench everything went smoothly. That is until I tried to take off the wheel hubs! My service manual tells me to to"tap them off" but obviously they have'nt been touched since Hecter was a pup. The bearings seem to be welded to the spindle. Any ideas and If I take them to a machine shop can they be pressed out! Will the bearings be destroyed because they run pretty smooth.

Re: Front Wheel Hubs
If you have a large vise, open it up enough to be able to "hang" the hub on the jaws. You may need to use a couple of short 2x4's across the vise to hold it. Take the nut off and remove the washer. Put the nut on but only part way. Hold the spindle part and rap the nut with a heavy hammer. Should break loose. You may have to spray some rust buster or penetrating oil around the spindle where it goes into the bearing. This worked for me when I did mine.
