Default Ignitor problem!

Trying to figure out why I lost spark my ignitor is leaking goop from where all the wires go into it . What would have caused this I noticed the part is around $150 so I would like to figure out what happened befor I replace it

You don't say what cart you have, but if you get lucky and have the right year cart, this thread will help you.

EDIT: I see you have a twin cylinder. This thread won't help you.

My bad I have the 92 ezgo 295cc . I've asked around but can't find a solid answer how this would happen just that they have seen it befor and it's cause is unknown. It's the plastic ignitor

I have seen a thread in which a 2 stroke ignitor got very hot and stopped working. After it cooled down it started to work until it got hot and died again. It transpired that the voltage regulator had failed and as a result the generator was pushing out a constant 18 volts. It's a long shot but it might be worth looking at the output lest you burn up your new ignitor.
