EZ-go Reaches Top Speed but Won't Maintain
Hello all,
Been a while since I've bugged anyone so I thought it was time! I've got an '03 EZ-Go TXT that says "High Performance" on the side of the body. Not sure that's a real thing, but I mention it in the spirit of full disclosure. I downloaded a speedometer app on my phone and took the cart for a spin. The cart will get up to 20mph on the dot, but will only maintain about 17mph after that. I have a shorter belt on it for a little more torque, but I wouldn't think that would cause a problem. Just curious if this is a chronic problem for golf carts or if I should be looking at doing something? I know you can get high speed gears, etc. I don't know that it bothers me that much, really just more curious than anything at this point. Thanks in advance! Michael |

Re: EZ-go Reaches Top Speed but Won't Maintain
Here is my experience with an 86 marathon - lifted with 22in tires.
I can get a top speed around 20mph. Mostly that is on a very smooth straight away and/or down a hill. But I average around 16 to 17mph on semi smooth ground. I would think that you might be running into a governor issue or simply the cart has good acceleration but tends to maintain a 17mph top speed over distance. Just my $.02. |

Re: EZ-go Reaches Top Speed but Won't Maintain
Sounds about right to me, getting up to 20 and then the governor kicks in and cuts it back to 17.
Not bad with the short belt I'd say. |
