Re: Fitting golf cart in trailer
Grab a Chair Trav....... windshield is going to get tricky .
.I would try not to cut the top if possible , look into cutting bottom first and sliding the whole windshield down . Cant tell much from your picture but looks like your windshield bends back at the bottom. and doesn't look like you have a windshield middle support in the middle of your cart like mine, (looks like a sticker ? ) and that's why they have a bend at the bottom (so it doesn't flex a lot ) if it does trimming the bottom might change where the mid mount location point needs to be (angle thing) on the body and you will have to relocate that also .If you cant trim the bottom of the windshield easily, and with that method then trim the windshield upright guides at the top on the uprights so the hinge will still work to let the windshield down (or just side the upright down if possible) , and check to make sure it will still fold all the way down and latch. if not then you might have to trim the top . but leave enough length below the bend (1 1/2") to bolt the top angle piece back on at the top , so you wouldn't be taking a section out / just cutting and moving it down.and then bolting back in place or even gluing it back on should be good. and you have to move the bottom rubber catch clips up . The Bent angle section is what makes the top edge ridged so it doesn't flex forward and backward while your driving and looking thru it (annoying) and reduce flexing while lifting it up and down . unless you don't mind it , (you are lazy you said ) . trimming at the hinge might be opinion, but mines glued in place ,and I wouldn't try getting it apart and reattaching it myself ,but that would definitely be the easiest and best way , maybe someone has and will jump ? . . . Also, maybe cutting the uprights at the middle of the upright windshield support you can use the windshield support upright itself as the support . drill through / 4 places , 2 above the cut and 2 below the cut minimum and washers as least as wide as the upright width , then no welding or strap or channel to go find . just looked at mine and unless your putting a rack up there or your friends on the roof , it should be fine , but don't really know the break strength of the those channels ? anyone else tried that yet ? . And another-thing !!! where your uprights mount to the roof in front will have to be able to pivot forward due to removing a section that is on a angle , so check out whats going to happen up there / with cart level , hang a plumb bob anywhere the on upright and measure down amount your cutting down then measure across at that point , thats how far it will have to move forward, your back upright looks square to cart so not much there to consider. . Plannnnn D' / would just removing the roof be enough clearance ? then use wingnuts underneath to take it off and on quickly ? ... then no rework at all !!! but have no idea what it looks like under there , and how many times do you need to put it in the trailer ? just trying to help you that Lazy thing you have |

Have you thought about lowering the top with a kit like this. http://www.xt-innovations.com/roofhi...oof_hinge.html
