Not a problem for me however as the cart only sits for 6-8 hours [on the charger] per night.
I did edit above.. the idle time is less than I previously stated

Thanks for the help fellas.
What gauge wire do you recommend for the switch to turn off the converter?

The same as the reducer uses. and you will want a switch thats rated for at least half the amps as the reducer is rated for since it goes on the input side... (example if its a 20amp rated reducer you need at least a 10 amp switch.)

a 48v relay is really the best bet those can be wired to turn on and off with the KSI voltage (key switch input) going to the controller.

Thanks again augie.
I just looked at the reducer that came with the Madjax kit and it is 10 amp.
The relay sounds like the cleanest solution however I admit I am electrically "challenged" :)

My controller (Nav3) draws more than you would think IF I forget to turn my key off when I put it on the charger. My converter hardly touches any draw at all. I have to be in a salty mood to put it in tow to keep my wife or kids from using it. They just think it's broken when I do that.

What converter are you using and did you actually check this with a meter? my old stock wiring in my 95 would automatically cut the power to my controller when plugging in
