second battery for accessories?
okay so my friends and i have a gas mid 90s ez-go golf cart
we started to use it more and more at night so we put on lights we have 4 lights that are on the front, and we have never had a problem with the battery draining as long as we only use the lights while we drive the question is, now we want to add a sound system, with about a 365 watt amplifier. subs, speakers the whole deal. we can wire it fine, but will the battery die on us? should we get a second battery and hook it up in parallel or should we get a second battery that is isolated from the engine, and charge that through a wall charger at night? please help us out, thanks |

Re: second battery for accessories?
Welcome to BGW.
Thats a good question. I'd be Leary of pulling that much juice with the stock generator. Sometimes these gennys have a hard time keeping up with stock much less a full blown power hungry electrical system. Being almost 20 years old to....genny has probly seen better days. What would be nice is to have a twin pulley made for the generator and fab up a one wire alternator. I'd think that would be more than enough to keep up. Wire the alternator into the second battery. That might be overkill, maybe someone whos done it can chime in. |
