Default 04 Gas EZgo valves

I have an 04 EZGo text that we use at our campground. The problem began with a hard start issue and eventually would not start. I did a compression check and found low compression. I adjusted the valves cold to .004" this worked fine and the cart has been fine for a while. I have now had to set the valves two more times this summer every time the valves are too tight .
My biggest concern is: Why do I have to keep adjusting the valves? Are they recessing in the head, or are the valves growing in length?

Thanks in advance

Dave

The outer lip burns off the edge of the valve & it recesses into the head as it gets smaller...

or you could have bad rockers. I had a cart that was doign that and replaced the rockers. Cart has been gone for a year now with no issues. I was adjusting them every other mth. this cart is driven 8-10 hours a day.

but you could have a valve issue as stated. I have seen that b4.
