High speed too soon
I have a 95 Club Car 48 v with the multi-step potentiometer. I replaced the resistors as the cart had one speed, fast. After installation, the ohms reading were what they should be and the cart has multiple speeds. The main problem is it does not have slow. It comes on hard and goes faster. I a looking for ideas.

Re: High speed too soon
Lets troubleshoot it and find out whats wrong first; Take the yellow wire off pin 3 on your controller and with the cart jacked up, in forward, and key on, check the voltage from pedal up to pedal down and it should go from 0vdc to 5vdc gradually changing through the travel.

Re: High speed too soon
Is that a "T" type controller? Do you have a rocker switch for Fwd/Rev?

Re: High speed too soon
You have a 2 wire 0-5kΩ rheostat type throttle.
That throttle works on resistance, not voltage like the 3-wire throttles. Turn the key OFF and put the FNR in neutral. Remove the wires from Tab #2 and #3 on the Controller and place your Multi-meter set to 20kΩ range in the 2 wires You removed. Slowly press the pedal and notice the resistance, it should be 0Ω (not 0L) when you hear the micro-switch click and increase in steps until a little over 5kΩ. When You put the FNR in Reverse, the top resistance should drop to around 2.5kΩ. If You changed the Controller to one that is expecting the modern 3-wire Throttles, You will need to convert your 2-wire setup to a 3-wire setup. Here is Your diagram: |
