Default Adding a voltage reducer to rxv?

Hey I know RXVs have issues when adding extra equipment to them but can I add a voltage reducer for some auxiliary lights and musical horn without the controller going for a sh#t.

There are several posts about this.

This one is long but should be able to help. Mine was a 2010. Years may vary.

You've got 2 options, the EZGO 12 volt accessory harness or an after market wired to the batteries. The ezgo version will set you back a few hundred dollars but connects into the existing harness. The advantage is that when you turn the key off, your accessories turn off.

After market reducers tend to be powered all the time and require you to rember to turn off the accessory.

I actually run both. I use the EZGO reducer to power the accessories, and I have a small always on maintaining the radio memory.

Actually in my thread Bob explains a simple way with aftermarket that turns off all accessories with key switch. And a way to keep the preset radio stations without being lost.

I then put my reducer's 12V output to my fuse box with all my accessories.

Yes, you can and should add a 12V reducer extrisnic of the stock harness. It is easy to do. To avoid the main switch, connect the + to the nut atop the neg side of solenoid (it will be one of the two large connectors on the solenoid, probably has the thick black wire...) which will turn the reducer off when the system is off. If your reducer has the extra wire to maintain power to the radio memory, I'd have to look to see how I have it hooked up. Add a seperate fuse box and you are GTG. There are threads here that can tell you how to do it.

I'm confused help me with what you mean by "stock harness."

Remember people change wires and the color may vary.

"Stock harness"=existing wires.

No splicing into wires that came with the cart! High risk of controller damage!

All electrical accessories you add, you run off the 12v reducer via the new fuse box you will install. Do not splice into any wires that came with the cart! Danger!

Make sure the so called "Memory wire" does what you guys think it does, no automobile Radio manufactured this century have such functionality.

The memory presets are maintained by the "Constant Power" wire of the Radio.

The "Constant Power" wire is also what powers the radio electronics and the amp section when you turn the "Switched Power" wire ON.

The point is that connecting that wire to a single battery will place the entire load of the radio on that battery.

I trust Bob Boyce on his advice about wire straight to battery for memory presets.
