No, I only have one charger. I manually charged the batteries using a DC power supply. I know have to figure out whether to use a timer for my charging or purchase a new OBC or smart charger. Not sure what to get....

If you are going to spend the money to get a new OBC and a smart charger is about the same price I would go with the smart charger and just eliminate the OBC all together. That way you don't have to worry about the OBC failing again and ending up going through this all over again. The Lester Summit II is the best on the market but DPI has a great smart charger for less than $300. I am using the DPI and also have the Duracell 8v batts and have been very pleased with both. The charger you have now you could probably sell and re-coupe a little money. But just some things to think about.

A timer for your current charger is not really an option. The charger is not designed to work without the OBC, and there is no current control circuit to properly charge the batteries. It will give them a fast bulk surface charge, that will be sufficient in the short term to keep them from going dead, but they will not get a full proper deep charge by using a timer.

As mentioned above, you may be able to sell your current charger and recoup some of the cost of a new smart charger.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will look into buying a smart charger. I really do not want to deal with the OBC again!
