Default pds slow after new controller, sol. ect.

working on friends 02 EZGO PDS, brought cart in not running, controller was smoked. been sitting in barn a couple years, no rat damage visible. replaced batteries, new controller 350 amp Curtis, new solenoid, new resistor. everything clean looks good now. o.k. here's the problem, the cart starts to move forward normally , then after about 20 ft. it slows to a crawl. I have not added diode to small solenoid post yet. any suggestions appreciated.

Does the new curtis 350 use the speed sensor input from the motor? Is the wiring from speed sensor in good shape?

Put it into diagnostic mode and it might give you an error code.

Text at bottom of attached label tells you how to get into diagnostic mode and lists error codes.

I think speed sensor would have given you 3 beeps, not 4.

The beeps that occur right after the controller goes into diagnostic mode telles you what PDS mode the controller is in. Four beeps means it is in Freedom
Mode.

The error codes will occur after the initial set of beeps and will consist of two sets of beeps.

Since the cart takes off normally and then goes into a reduced performance mode, the error code won't be heard until the performance is reduced.

The most likely suspects are:
Speed Sensor: Beep - Pause - Beep-Beep-Beep (1-3)
Low Voltage: Beep-Beep - Pause - Beep (2-1)
Welded Contacts: Beep-Beep-Beep - Pause - Beep-Beep (3-2)
