Default gasket 89 - 2 stroke

I will be putting an 89 2 stroke engine back together tomorrow , again ,
I do not like the paper thin bottom cylinder gasket ,and am planning to cut one myself from std gasket material but it's much thicker than the stock gasket and will add several /1000's to deck height will make much if any difference ?

It's hard to say how much will be lost without doing a bunch of math. I guess the point is, there will be a loss. I wouldn't do it if I were you, I would use the right gasket for it. I can only see the bigger gasket becoming a source of problems down the road. That seal is critical for the proper running of the 2stroke engine

The engine seal is what i'm most concerned about the origonal gasket is no more than notebook paper thin , I nearly tore it just getting it out of the box .
I miked it and it is less than .002 , the gasket material is .012 , so I sent the deck (jug) to a machine shop and had .008 taken off the top .
I just can't bring myself to trust a gasket so thin .
