Default Re: Without spending another $100 is there a way to stiffen the rear springs??

Lots of good info!! So what I am hearing is for $70 it now turns into a lift kit? Talk about a bonus!! I was just looking for extra strength and now it looks even more promising!

I have a 1991 G9- whats involved in moving the shock mounts? Anything else need to be modded?

Well yea, but you'll then have to lift the front too!
On the rear, you can build an extension of the top mounts. The issue is, the shocks won't allow you to pull them forward to the stock mounts. So, you have to build a bracket back by at least 1 1/2 inches to reach the shock. You can always do this by buying 1 1/2" square stock from the hardware store. I found stock, with holes already drilled, which made it much easier. Mount one peice to your stock top shock section, and then an additional 1 1/2" square stock welded to that one. I'll include some old pictures, just so you can understand. This was my 'mock up' before I did it right. Now, these are the stock shocks, but as you add the 400ex shocks, you won't need so much length on your down tube. But you can see, the shocks need to come back some.

You just need to move your top mount down maybe not more than an inch, for a little lift.

I have 400ex shocks on my G2 and they work awesome. It will haul just about anything. It rides really good too, but I also weight close to 300lbs
