I need advice on charger connectors
I am new and trying to learn and need advice.
I recently bought a 1990 EZGO Marathon cart with 3 year old batteries. They seem to have little endurance. I am not sure if the problem is the batteries or the connectors. I do know that the batteries seem to have varying life and I suspect the connectors are not always allowing a complete charge. I have installed the following additions to the cart: 36 X to 12 V to run lights - the converter is non switched. a Battery Life Maintainer (Desulfator) The charger connector and the cart connector seem not very secure and easily slips out of contact. The connector contacts are 2 flat "pins" in each. 1. should I replace the connector pins, if so how do I identify what I need? 2. Would I be better off changing to different type of connectors and if so what would fit the cart and charger? |

Re: I need advice on charger connectors
The connector is designed that way, it's probably fine. What kind of charger do you have?

Re: I need advice on charger connectors
The 36V to 12V converter needs to be switched off when not in use.
Some desulfators, draw power from the battery pack, it may be a source of power drain. ------------ What is the pack voltage 12 hours after the charger shuts off automatically? Should be 38.2V for a 36V pack. Each battery should measure 3.67V and all six should be withing 0.1V of each other. What is the AH rating of the batteries? 225AH is standard. |

Re: I need advice on charger connectors
Thanks for the input.
I know that the charger is the Textron charger. I will change the wiring for the 36v to 12 Volt. |
