Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
Maybe the ones with the complete new a-arms are long travel? I don't think I care about long travel. I may go the same way that jeffro did.

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
long travel lifts are something totally differnt there just like a 4 wheeler front end with lots of travel. all sports makes a 7 inch double arm lift that looks like a 4 wheeler front end just doesnt have as much travel as a long travel. still great for everything.

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
thanks, Well The front took around 2 and a half hours just because of making the drop brackets The correct length and getting the shock at a good height. Once you make the brackets you can bolt them in, in around 45 minutes.

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
hey mike, another question, did you have to move the front axle forward at all? I read somewhere that most lifts push it forward to fit bigger tires.

Re: Yamaha G1 Homemade Lift Kit
Hey dude when you dent the frame the way i did it was mark where the clutch will hit and remove the engine and warm the area w/ a torch till red hot and tap it with a 2 inch trailer ball makes a nice round dimple in frame looks factory . i have a 9 inch lift on my 80 g1 and motor runs fine i used 2 pieces of 1x1 angle iron to drop the top mounts just remember to drill the top mounts to add two more bolts to stabilize angle iron so it does not spin

No i didn't move the them forward i just took to steel plates and droped it down 4 inch's and bolted her in. I also put 3 inch wheel spacers on to put bigger tires.
