Default Might have found a place to buy my new cart! Need help picking on out!

Well, I found a guy that is into yamaha golf carts. He has several of them right now, all priced good. He rebuilds all the motors in them. I want a good running cart, but want to be able to paint it and fix up the cosmetic stuff myself. He has several that fit this bill.....and the prices are right.

My question is, what model should I get? He seems to like the G9's, and has several of those, he also has a G14, which I seem the like the newer body style look of that. What model should I look at? Pros and cons of each model?? Help a newbie make a good choice!!

From the timeline above in the sticky, looks like a G9 could be a 1991-1994?? And a G14 was a 1995 or a 1996??

The prices of the carts should help people give a better opinion.

Newer is always better if everything else is equal. Parts availability is still good on both, but there definitely seems to be a lot more G9's out there, maybe they were made longer. A G16 gets you into a newer design in both the motor and transaxle. All that being said, I don't think you could go too wrong either way. Check the frame and front end components for visible signs of rust or abuse, besides the motor the rest is relatively minor.

G14 has a lot more accessories available. Easier to take apart and paint also. 14 would be my choice over a 9

G14 got the newer higher HP motors but the G9 in my opinion has much more usable torque. They share a lot of parts under neath. Pick the one you think looks the best you can't go wrong either way.

Well, I bought the G9. He just had the motor rebuilt last fall. It needs a lot of cosmetic work, but that is what I was lookin for. Body has no cracks in it, so I will paint it, add a lift, big tires, and a canopy. Got it for $900, not to bad!

I woulda jumped on it for $900. I have two G2's which are identical to G9's. Not hard for me to say they are my favorites. My wife's is a '04 Club Car Villager 6 and I also have a '98 EZGO. They are all gas but the villager 6 is the only stock one... For now.
