Re: ipod amp wiring
I have done the same mod with my st 2+2 unfortunately there is no hot wire in the ignitionI ended up re wiring the switch to include one as well as installing a master switch to the fuses. Not hard if interest I can sketch what i did. Little note dont hook the amp directly off the battery it does pull enough to drain it in a short time. My first reply hope i can help

Re: ipod amp wiring
Great idea. A sketch would be really helpful. Only other idea I came up with was wire amp to switch were headlights are connected and install toggle switch for headlights. Really afraid if amp is not wired into switch my wife or grandson will forget to turn off and run battery down. At least with lights on toggle switch you can see that they are ON.

Re: ipod amp wiring
Problem with that is if you notice head lights dont come on unless petal is pushed in stock mode. May take me a day or two but I will try to get diagram posted I am new to this site but love it so far. Needs an app for smart phone format. Another bonus is the fuel gage will work with the key as well

Re: ipod amp wiring
If the ignition is a ground only circuit then use it as the ground for the amp, hot stays hot all the time, ground only works when the switch is turned on. I would probably up the gauge of the wire to the switch to make sure the ground is good enough.
