1989 Driven Clutch Rebuilt
Does anybody know where i can find a rebuild kit for the driven clutch unit on the 1989 Marathon? i have no problem finding up to year 1988 but nothing for mine.
Looking for the bushings and seals that reside in the moving sheave. Thanks |

Try the below link but you may have to peice the kit. You should have same clutch as 3pg marathons. I recommend a high torque spring. You may need a new ramp and buttons as well if the clutch is not to far gone.

Man can not figure out why my last posting to this did not go through but here goes again.
Is your clutch the same as what is on page H1 in manual? If it is, you should go by that clutch and that is in a 90/91 3pg unit. You can get ramp, buttons, button bolts and high torque spring kit for that clutch. I recommend the high torque spring. That bushing must be for a diff clutch as it is not in mine that I ever saw. |

Re: 1989 Driven Clutch Rebuilt
The 3pg engine was started in 89 and ended in 93. The clutch that is on yours is the same as what they say a 90 to 93. You can get high torque spring kits for that and buttons and a new ramp and many other small items for it.
One key factor I found on my dead used cart that I purchased. After doing a long block and new primary clutch along with many other mods on it I still was not real happy with the performance. After checking all things I order a new bushing washer that goes into the driven clutch under the hold on bolt. When I got it, it was the same size as the one on it as I had thought the washer was loose and warn but decided that I may as well keep the old one in as they were the same...Well darn hold on bolt seemed to come off and get loose allot until I lost the bolt totally in my yard. I then ordered a new bolt and washer for my year and low and behold I got a washer that fit into the clutch nice and tight and smaller hole matching the hold on bolt. After installing the new parts my cart takes off like crazy and runes like it never did before. Found that company that I purchased the first new washer from sent me one for the years after and not the correct one. to make it a shorter story the origional owner must have installed the wrong one also. The pressure put on the clutch is enough that if that clutch is not totally held in place with no flexing, you will not have a smooth running cart with no good top end either. Jut some rambling that may help some one with some running issues that seem to be unfixable. |
