36v solenoid install question
I was wondering if there is a certain way to hook up the solenoid. I understand the diagram but on the old and new solenoid there is no markings. I see the large two studs have a white wire going into one stud and out the other stud, its just the small studs have me confused. Or does it even matter. Thanks for the help ya'll

Re: 36v solenoid install question
What you have in your hand is a big switch. When + and - are present at the 2 small terminals a bar connects the 2 big terminals. The solenoid does this by creating a magnetic force using + and - . It does not care which small terminal is + or -. Have at it.

Re: 36v solenoid install question
Thanks Scotty, so making it clear it don't matter?
My plan was to remove the broken one and install the new one and put all the wires in the same place but no markings. |

Re: 36v solenoid install question
Good news! It's always better to ask
Just to be super clear for anybody using this thread as a reference .... the solenoid has no set location for + or -. Either small post can be used for either polarity. If there is more than one + or - small wires, as is often the case, then all of the + wires go on one post and all the - wires go on the other post AND the diode is in installed so the striped end is towards the + post. That's very important. The large posts are non directional... the battery pack can connect to either large post. I hope this helps |
