Default Newbie needs advice on what to upgrade

I am new to carting and have caught the bug.

I bought a 2005 DS (with IQ). It has been lifted with an Allsports kit in 2013, with all new bushings and Trogan TH75 batteries. New mag wheels and 22" tires have been installed, unit runs great. I use it on my hobby farm and dragged the driveway on the weekend with no issues.

I am going to change the wiring to 2 AWG, because I have the wiring. I am thinking of installing PQ Bandit and am asking what I should do next and in what order. Looking for more speed (about 30 for now) keeping the same torque or better. Running time is also important.

Do I need to change the controller?
Thanks

to BGW

Once you've caught the bug, it's hard to get rid of...

I would start with the 2 GA wires and the Bandit, then see if you are pleased. If not, you can upgrade the controller at that time. The Bandit produces 25% more speed AND torque. Everyone that I have seen on here with one has been pleased...

What exactly would a new controller do for me, with mine being DS IQ?

Thanks

It would increase your torque (hill climbing power). Speed wouldn't necessarily increase...

I might be answering my own question after more searches.

Looks like the Code 5 Programmer is the way to go.

Order a PH Purple for your cart and you'll get close to what you're looking for, 29-30mph.) Do this first, before or after your 2 AWG. After that you can determine if you even really need anything else. A new controller with more amps will give you take off and more torque for hills but I think you'll be extremely happy with just the "PH" purple bandit motor.

If you live in a area where the land is flat a Bandit Motor upgrade is all you will need. But if the area is hilly you will need more HP to maintain your speed going uphills.

I have one I have yet to try on my cart. I've heard good things about them. They even have a PQ Bandit tune now specifically for the Bandit...

Thanks for all your replies, very helpful.

I am on a wait list for the Bandit because I do not want to use mine as a core. As soon as he gets one (could be days or months) he will make it for me.

While waiting I have ordered the programmer.

I finally got a chance to verify the speed of my cart. Lifted, with 22" tires I am seeing 13 to 15 mph.
