Default 1996 36V Club Car won't go in reverse

There is no one around here that fixes carts so we are trying to do it ourselves. At first it wouldn't go at all. We bought 6 new batteries. Still didn't go. Bought a new solenoid, that one person said we should cut that resistor/diode that was on the old one cause it didn't go with our cart(although it has been working with it for 7 years) which we did. IStill didn't work. Was than told to buy a micro switch, which we did, and we finally got forward, no reverse. We were than told to buy a F&R switch which we installed today. No reverse still.
The only thing I can think of is we shouldn't have cut the diode like they told us? It just clicks when we put it in reverse and push the pedal down.
Anything left to try? Something installed wrong? Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what that is. Is it the coils? There is something on the left next to the battery behind drivers seat that lots of wires go in?
Where would it be located? Sorry I'm am truly Golf cart stupid(but getting better with every new part I put in lol)

Sounds like something is miswired to me, as reverse is easy to lose on these carts. It is powered by its own wire that is often forgotten. The above diagram is what your wiring should look like.

Thanks SO much for the diagram. When my husband has extra time on Friday I will have him trace it(the green wire) Can the diode/resistor that I was told to cut cause it not to go in reverse? It looked like a little sausage type thing on the solenoid? Thanks for all the help.

Not typically. Your cart does have a row of coils behind the batteries that look like what's in the diagram, right?

Yes it does, coils look exactly like that. Am I correct in seeing the reverse wire(Mine isn't green) goes from the F&R to a post on the battery? Because if it does I don't have that, but I also don't see a wire that isn't connected to anything.
I didn't take a long look, I needed a flashlight to see it better.

After looking at that diagram again. I think we have a different F&R switch, We don't have that group of red wires under it going to different things. We have a micro switch than a small blue and small red wire attached to it. Than the knob or the thing that puts it in forward & reverse moves and this silver piece slides across that.
Can we post pictures here?
I think along time ago they sent me that F&R switch twice and it was for a 1995 or a 48V it didn't match up with the one already in it at all.
If I took pics can I email or text them to you?
