Re: commander motors
How big are your wheels? Large wheels/tires will kill your torque.

Re: commander motors
I FINALLY got my new 2 ga cables installed. It's running strong but now the battery light comes on while going up hill (on a full charge). Before when the batteries were low it would come on when I let off the throttle, never while going up hill. Anyone have any ideas what would make it do this? I've got 53 volts across the whole pack.

Re: commander motors
any way you can get a meter on it and see what voltage is dropping to while going uphill? .................................

Re: commander motors
Yes I can try that.
Looking around at some of the other posts it sounds like I was supposed to drill out the obc maybe? I didn't know that the ground wire served a purpose going through the obc. I just left the old wire going through that and ran the new wire over it. Do you think that's the problem? |

Re: commander motors
thats your problem that wire has to go thur OBC and be connected theres a voltage sensor in there and it senses voltage thur that cable..........DO NOT DRILL IT OUT or its ruined...............hook that cable up also it won,t hurt anything and your problem is solved..................................

Re: commander motors
Here's a post where a couple of other guys drilled them out. Noticed the one guy says that he tried just hooking up the 6 gauge too but didn't get the desired results. What do you think?

Re: commander motors
Ah, now this sounds like a good idea....
Take a 3" length of 5/16 threaded stainless steel. Wrap a 1/2" thick piece of insulator tape in the center. Stack yourself 2 x 1 1/2" neoprene 5/16 washers, 2 x 1" 5/16 plastic washers. One on each side of the tape gap. Then stainless washer and nut on either side to snug the shaft up in the hole. Then the stainless washers and nuts to make battery posts on either side after the first set of washers and nuts. 3" works depending on the thickness of your washers. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts after placing stack through the hole and you obviously have to hold the first set of nuts with a wrench when tightening the final nuts. Now you essentially have battery posts on either side of the OBC and you can do whatever thickness of cable you want. It looks like CC made it that way. I used 4 gage I had custom made by a guy on eBay. They were beautiful. You can have them color coded to the stock cables. Coat everything in dielectric grease. I'm on the road or I would send a pic. Hope this helps. |
