Default EZGO94 model, charger wont begin charging

Hi, first post. Thanks for letting me be apart of your forum!

I have a 1994 EZGO cart with 2010 batteries. We were gone for about 3 weeks, and when we got back, found out cart was dead and would not move. I plugged the charger in, but nothing happens. I have checked the charger out on another cart my neighbor has and it begins charging immediately. I think I remember hearing somewhere that the charger has to read a certain amperage before it will start charging. So i am at a loss as to how to refresh my batteries. anybody got some advice that may help.
thanks in advance.
Mike

Yes, the charger needs to 'see' 24-28v to initiate a charge. Can you check your pack?
Try connecting a 12v charger to any 2 of the 6v batteries in series (do not disconnect any cabling to do this) after about 20-30 minutes of charging, retry the cart charger. If the cart charger starts charging disconnect the 12v charger and let the GC charger run until it auto shuts off...

Check water levels before you begin.

Mike.

Like scottyb said, your charger might have to see a certain amount of volts in your pack than you have. You said "current" in your original post. Current and voltage are entirely two different things. Maybe you just types what was on your mind at the time? Doesn't matter now, we need to get you your cart running right?

I'll add a little more info for scottyb's comments. ScottyB is all over this forum helping tons of people and he is a business you should always consider, but for now let me explain a bit more.

If you can get a car charger, get one. You need to charge your batteries. Your carts batteries are all hooked in series which means one is hooked to another and that one is hooked to the next and so on. You can put a 12v car charger on any two 6v cart batteries if they are neighboring batteries. This means the negative of one is connected to the positive of the next. What I mean is that as long as the 12v charger is connected to two batteries which are connected right together in the chain, you can act as if they are a car 12v battery. Some people do nothing but charge there 36v cart with nothing but a 12v charger. I don't recommend it but it can be done. Truth!

Do that for all your 6 batteries *assuming you have a 36v cart. Make sure all your batteries are as full as you can get them.

Then we can speak more about troubleshooting.

I may have a crude way of troubleshooting but it makes sense to me.

Let us know what you find.
