Battery help
I am working on my FIL's Ezgo electric cart. (it is a early 90's cargo hauler) I just replaced all the batteries. When I put the cart in forward it goes really slow and when I put it in reverse, the cart goes a lot faster. Im thinking one of the solenoids are hooked up incorrectly? The wiring diagrams for the electrical I found don't show the right configuration of solenoids. The diagram I have shows 4 solenoids, while the cart only has three. Any ideas?

Re: Battery help
Does cart have two or three speeds?
If it has 3 speeds, there will be one solenoid for each speed, plus a main one to connect/disconnect the battery pack, which may not be located with the others. Also, with a solenoid for each speed, it is possible that a previous owner has by-passed the main solenoid. Regardless of number of solenoids, the drive system will probably work the same as the 4 solenoid drawing, less one speed or less the main solenoid. ----------------- The difference between Forward and Reverse is the direction of current flow through either the Armature or the Stator windings, so the most likely suspect for slower travel in one direction is the F/R switch contacts or the motor brushes. (IE: The solenoid contacts would be the same in either direction.) |
